DIY Pumpkin Carved Pregnancy Announcement

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
So my throw back thursday is to 3 years ago when I wanted to find a creative way to announce that I was pregnant with our first with friends and family. He was due in may so at 3 months in when we decide to announce it was fall and I wanted to do something fall themed. I came up with carving this pumpkin with "Coming Soon... 5.6.12" and I posted it on my facebook...it was subtle and fun—I loved it! I whipped up a tutorial with some pumpkin carving tips to help you DIY one of these. You could also paint the pumpkin or just scrape off the top layer of the skin to reveal the pith underneath. I'd love to see what you are inspired to make from this post! Happy Fall!!!

It is NEVER too late to live your purpose! This was my final take away from the #samsonchallenge (find out more about the samson challenge and more bible challenges by the lovely @doctorkanayo on here blog). If you don’t know Samson from the Bible picture @therock #dawaynejohnson with long hair and a loincloth...

Crochet Bunting

The past few months have been a whirlwind and I'm now living in a whole new state halfway across the country, 9 months pregnant and potty training my toddler. I should have lost my mind by now, but I've been making it through my faith and some crochet. I finally got back to my crochet and finished my first project in the new house—adorable crochet bunting! I based it on the granny triangle tutorial from carina's craft blog.

Chocolate Rasberry Crumble Bars (dairy free)

I was invited to a potluck baby shower and my immediate thought of what to bring was a raspberry crumble bar, then I found out the theme was chocolate so I pieced together this recipe from a bunch of internet recipe stalking. I have been really into baking fruit crumbles lately—like, I've made a dozen in the past month—I know...I need help. But, who can blame me with all the yummy fruit coming into peak season and filling the grocery stores with their intoxicating fragrances...okay now I definitely sound crazy. Hmmm, maybe it has to do with the copious amounts of chocolate and pure sure I have ingested in the last 24 hourss. It took me 3 tries to get this recipe right but it was sooooo worth it!

Momma & Me Yoga | The Good, the Bad and the Adorable

My Yoga obsession continues! My son is cruising now and I'm so excited to find more ways to engage my little bundle of energy. I took him to the pool yesterday and he loved it! I want to do yoga with him too. When he was really little, before he even crawled, I used Shiva Rea's awesome Momma and Baby Yoga DVD. Once he could crawl he pretty much went off and did his own thing and I did yoga solo. Recently he has come up and climbed on me while I was doing poses so I think it's time to get him involved again.

I found this sweet video on YouTube from YogaEarth and it was exactly what I hope to have with my son someday. :)

For the Love of Yoga

I've decided to do a year of daily yoga. I will confess that I used to see yoga as just another fitness fad that was only meant for the young, beautiful, bendy types or the barley eating hippie types—come on, you know you thought it too—and really who wouldn't with the way it is marketed in the States at least. Recently though, as I watched my infant son learn to roll over and lift his head, gradually building the strength to crawl, stand and generally get into anything below 3 feet off the ground, it made it glaringly obvious to me how natural yoga is…Enter my Eureka moment, in essence, yoga is what my son has been doing every day since the day he was born! My mind was blown. I have always struggled to exercise because it didn't feel natural or bring me any joy—seriously have you ever walked by a gym and looked in the window at the rows of machines and weights surrounding all the sweaty grunting people and thought to yourself, they look so natural and happy—yeah me neither. So I'm diving in, I will keep you updated on the journey. Why do you love yoga? Here's some yoga inspiration…

The Power of The Packed Lunch

I adore reading to my son before bed—all the cuddles and the coos, and yeah even his slapping at the book and trying to bend the pages into origami. Sometimes, when I’m reading to him, a part of the story will jump out at me and get me thinking about my own life. It happened to me just the other night when I was reading to him from his storybook Bible. It was the story of Jesus feeding a crowd of people with the sack lunch of some boy. I’ve read this story before, but this was the first time I had read it as a mother so when it mentioned the little boy I started thinking about his mother. The Bible doesn’t mention his mother, but I sort of imagined what his mother might have been like. I pictured her making his lunch that morning, baking the bread and cleaning the fish. Maybe she wrapped it up with a little note for him, okay probably not, but it occurred to me that mothers have been packing lunches for their children for ages and ages.
The same mundane act, with all the same profound love behind it. And on this occasion, in this story, the food that this mother packed did more than just prepare her son for lunchtime, it prepared him for a
generous act that had a ripple effect among thousands of people! I guess what really hit me was that the things you do for your kids everyday that can be so routine and seemingly trivial, you never know just how impactful those little things can truly be. I think I’ll be remembering this the next time I’m packing a diaper bag, washing the dishes or cleaning up a mess.
